On the very occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced about the Gaganyan mission. After Chandrayan-2 mission, eyes are lying on Gaganyan mission which will be the first of its kind in India. After three countries; the USA, Russia and China, India will become the fourth one to have manned space program. K Shivan confirmed about Gaganyan mission on Saturday during 8th Convocation of IIT(Indian Institute of Technology), Bhuvneshwar.
In addition, K Shivan said, “by 2021, we will have our own rocket carrying an Indian to space and ISRO is working on it”. Before manned mission, ISRO will send two unmanned mission to space. For instance, for the safety of crew members, ISRO had done Pod abort test earlier.
Shivan also talked about Aditya L1 mission for the solar probe. Aditya L1 will study solar Corona and collect data from it. Aditya L1 will be India’s first solar mission. By considering the Chandrayan-2 mission, ISRO chief held that it is 98% successful and the orbiter is working properly. He said, “instead of soft landing of Vikram, everything was okay”.
If Gaganyan mission will be launched, it will cost 10,000 crore INR. According to him, Gaganyan mission is on the highest priority. For the same, Pilots are undergoing physical training, exercises, clinical tests and evaluation. Shivan in the event motivated the students and asked them not to disappoint during the failures but to face them. Moreover, he spoke about learning new things from mistakes. He also distributed the awards among the winning scholars. Gaganyan mission is important for India as it will open the new boxes of discovery in science and technology.
