Here is good and proud news for all Indians, a young Indian pistol shooter Anish Bhanwala, won the bronze medal in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol on the final day of competition of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Rifle/Pistol in held in Cairo, Egypt. However, if we talk about the past then the Olympic medal and the two other world cup stage medals were won by another Indian shooter, Honorary Captain Vijay Kumar Sharma, and it all happened 12 years ago. But finally, the nation got its medal back, and all credit goes to Anish. The young name is making headlines since the news of his win broke on the internet.
Anish, a 20-year-old shooter from Haryana, won the bronze medal in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol competition on Thursday at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo. Anish’s score of 581 (294 + 287) earned him a spot in the ranking round. He shot 12 in the ranking round, although he was tied with Yan Chesnel of France. Since the first two shoot-off rounds were tied at three and four shots each, the shooters had to proceed to a third round. Anish hit four targets in the final round of the shoot-off while the French shooter only managed to strike two.

Well, after his winning, the boy is surrounded by a lot of media coverage, and in an interview (after winning), he in a statement said “I had two tournaments in Europe the previous year where I faced off against Reitz and others, and it prepared me well for today. The perfect five arrived at the best time for me when Reitz shot a perfect series”. Adding more to the statement he also told “when I won the national championship, Vijay Kumar’s praise meant more to me than the gold medal. I realize that after the CWG games, despite my early success at a young age, I was unable to keep up my form in senior-level competition (2018)”.
Born on 26 September 2002 in a small village Kashandi, Sonipat, and brought up in Karnal, Haryana. According to the online reports, he was only 11 years old when his passion came to be known by his parents, during his participation in modern pentathlon events. Well, it was also his first senior World Cup medal.
