Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute to Iron Man of India- Shri. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 144thbirth anniversary at Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat.
While delivering his speech on an event organized on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Prime Minister credited Patel for uniting the nation and said that Diversity is nation’s strength.
“Centuries ago India was united by Chanakya, and after that Sardar Patel did it. No country embraces like India. Our unity is the best tribute we can pay to Sardar Patel,” PM said.
PM Modi takes a sly dig at Pakistan on the occasion of Ekta Diwas by saying, “India’s enemies are upset by the country’s unity. Those who cannot win wars against us are trying to destroy our unity. Even after trying for centuries, nobody could annihilate us,” PM said.
Modi government had declared Patel’s birth anniversary as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014. With the beginning of ‘Run for Unity’ event all over India, PM Modi will attend events in Ahmedabad.
Around 10 AM, PM Modi visited the Technology Demonstration Site and participated in discussions and demonstrations on modernization of police.
After the meeting, cultural program will commence at 3:30 pm. After the end of the event, PM will be flying back to Delhi from Vadodara.
On Thursday morning, President Shree Ram Nath Kovind and Home minister Shree Amit Shah paid tribute to Sardar Patel in Delhi.
Amit Shah flagged off a marathon in remembrance of first home minister of India- Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Delhi.
The ‘Run for Unity’ that began from Major Dhyan Chand National stadium, witnessed participation of large number of people. The marathon that is going to start from Major DhyanChand National Stadium will be ending at Amar Jawan Jyoti.

Since 2014, Birth anniversary of Sardar Patel is celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’. People from all walks of life participate in the marathon from all over the country.
“In order to facilitate people participating in ‘Run for Unity’ marathon taking place on 31stOctober 2019, Metro Services will begin at 4AM from terminal stations of all lines and will run with frequency of 30 minutes till 6AM. Thereafter, services will continue according to the timetable followed throughout the day,” DMRC said.
As per Delhi Traffic Police, 15,000 people have taken part in the event which is likely to cause traffic congestion at India Gate, C-Hexagon and in other nearby places.
In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commenced the event to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. The head of the Information Directorate, Mr. Shishir said that the marathon would start from statue of Sardar located near Hazratganj and end at KD Singh Babu Stadium.
PM Modi in his Radio Show ‘Mann ki Baat’ had requested people to take part in ‘Run for Unity’. He said,” ‘Run for Unity is a symbol of unison and depicts that country is moving in one direction by collectively aiming for ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.”
All Police stations in UP will have Photos of Sardar.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of first deputy Prime Minister of independent India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, his photos will be installed in all police stations of Uttar Pradesh.
Additional Chief Secretary Awaneesh Awasthi said,” At 11 AM on 31stOctober, an oath-taking ceremony will take place on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at all the police stations , police lines and police offices in the state. After the culmination of the ceremony, photos of Sardar Patel will be installed.”
