Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu took a sly dig at neighbouring country-Pakistan by calling it an epicenter of terrorism at 18thsummit of Non-Aligned Movement countries organized at Azerbaijan.
He passed the aforementioned statement in response to the speech delivered by Pakistan President Arif Alvi, who said that terrorism should not be identified by any nation, region or religion. Besides this, he also criticized the decision of the government over withdrawal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir by calling it a direct assault on the right to self-determination.
Mr. Naidu said,” On the subject of terrorism, our thoughts naturally go to its contemporary epicenter-Pakistan. We regret that earlier this afternoon, this August forum was misused to justify once again Pakistan’s policy of conducting cross-border terrorism against its neighboring countries.
He said that Pakistan needs to put on more efforts to earn the confidence of the international community.
“It must decisively abjure terrorism- for its own good, for that of its neighbors and for good of the world,” Mr. Naidu who is heading the the Indian delegation at the summit, said.
