Highlights

  • The Shiv Sena, in the Maharashtra assembly elections, won 56 seats, as compared to a higher number of 63 seats back in 2014
  • Sanjay Raut, the chief whip of the party in Parliament, states that despite this, the party has the remote control to power in the state
  • BJP too didn’t fare as well, and scored lesser seats than in 2014, leading Shiv Sena to ask for equal sharing of power when the two party merged
  • Raut further says that the myth that BJP would lead Shiv Sena or their merging, is busted and they shouldn’t take them for granted
  • He also mentioned the NCP turned BJP leader Udayanraje Bhosale and the defeat he faced
  • He goes on to further point out the faults in BJP and supported the Shiv Sena party

The shiv Sena party, came into majority, after the Maharashtra assembly polls held this month, in 2019. However, they won only 56 seats, as compared to the 63 seats back in 2014. Shiv Sena and BJP are set to collaberate their parties, and form one unit. BJP, as well, only secured 105 seats in the assembly elections as compared to 122 in 2014.

In response to this, the executive editor or Saamana and also the chief whip of the party in the Parliament, Sanjay raut, states that despite the lesser number of seats secured by Shiv Sena, they still hold the remote control to power in the state of Maharashtra. He also states, about the collaberation with BJP,

“the dream that the shiv sena will drag itself behind the bjp is busted (after poll results). a cartoon showing a tiger (sena’s identity) holding a lotus (bjp’s symbol) in it’s hand tells a lot about the current scenario. not taking anyone for granted is the message.”

About the lesser number of seats secured by the BJP, Raut says,

“the bjp’s strategy of contesting 164 seats and winning 144 of them was rejected by voters. the election result is the defeat of unethical thoughts of increasing the tally by getting key congress- ncp leaders to join the bjp, by luring them or threatening them.”

He also mentioned the defeat of the NCP turned BJP leader, Udayanraje Bhosale in the Satara bypoll saying that it was a message to those who think they can do whatever they want in order to win. He further said,

“the shiv sena stopped the bjp’s plans of forming a government on it’s own in the state in 2014. in 2019, it was sharad pawar who did the same.”
