Congress leaders on Thursday paid homage to former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi on her 35thdeath anniversary by remembering his contribution to national security, economy and foreign policies.
Interim President of the Congress Party, former President Shree Pranab Mukherjee, former Vice-President Shree Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Shree Manmohan Singh and Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Shree Ashok Gehlot paid homage to first lady Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi on her 35thdeath anniversary.
Delhi Congress Chief Subhash Chopra and head of Delhi Campaigning committee Kirti Azad also marked their presence at the ceremony.
“Today we honor the incredible will and sacrifice of India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. As Prime Minister, Mrs. Gandhi made immense contributions to nation’s security, enonomy and foreign policies. She will always be remembered for her love for India.” Stated the official statement of Congress Party.
Rahul Gandhi also tweeted to pay tribute to late former Prime Minister. “My tributes to my grandmother and former PM, Smt. Indira Gandhi on the anniversary of her martyrdom.”
Senior Party Leader Jairam Ramesh also paid tribute to the Iron Lady of India.
“October 31st, a day of celebration. Iron Man of India, Sardar Patel’s Birthday. October 31st, a day of anguish, as it marks the day when Iron Lady of India, Indira Gandhi was assassinated. Both of them not only had a huge impact on India’s history but on our geography as well, he tweeted.
