  • Among those sworn in are Ajit Pawar, Chaggan Bhujbal, Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan.

The swearing-in ceremony of members of 14th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will mark a rare occasion as the assembled that will assemble for the session would be without the formation of government and appointment of Chief Minister.

State Vidhan Bhawan’s in-charge secretary Rajendra Bhagawat told that during the last couple of decades the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister will be conducted after the ceremony of MLAs.

Bhagawat stated that once the chief minister takes the oath, he will have to form the cabinet.

“The schedule of the next full session would be decided in the first Cabinet meeting. The floor test will be in that session,” he added.

A special session of state Assembly will begin to administer the oath of members of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra. Kalidas Kolambkar will be administering the oath of the MLAs present in the session.

The newly elected members weren’t able to take oath owing to the ongoing political situation in Maharashtra.

Supreme Court ordered the Governor to appoint a pro term speaker to ensure that all elected members take the oath by 5 pm.

After the collapse of the BJP government in the state, the tripartite alliance of NCP-Shiv Sena and Congress is all set to form the government in Maharashtra. They also have submitted a letter claiming support of 162 MLAs.
