Who Is Bobby Kinnar? AAP’s First Transgender Candidate For MCD Election

Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party has recently announced something that has become the talk of the town. As you all know, MCD elections are in full swing in Delhi, so everyone is trying to contest elections. Amid the tough competition, Delhi’s AAP party introduced its candidate followed by which everyone is searching for the name and praised CM. Yes, we are talking about Bobby Kinnar and it is going to be the very first time when a transgender is going to contest the election for the counselor in Delhi. Bobby Kinnar has been given a ticket from Sultanpuri 43 A ward of Sultanpur Majra Assembly.
Undoubtedly, it is the very first time that any state political party is given a ticket to a transgender for the election. Bobby said that she was associated with the party since the Anna Hazare movement and also when the party was formed. Bobby is known for her hard work in the ward and perhaps this is the reason that AAP found in her that if they give the ticker to her then she will win for sure. As she has been doing work in the ward and has a good reputation, her name was found at the top of the list that was rolled out for the municipal elections. However, this time she got the ticket from AAP, while she has already contested for the same back in 2017 where she came up as an independent candidate.
Who is Bobby Kinnar?
Since her name has rolled out as a candidate for the municipal corporation, it has become a hot potato as everyone is getting keen to know about her. So, Bobby Kinnar is one of the transgenders who got immense popularity among all the other personalities in Delhi. The 38 years old transgender has said that she is associated with AAP since the Anna Hazare movement, Bobby is also the president of the Delhi unit of ‘The Hindu Yuva Samaj Ekta Awam Anti-Terrorism Committee. Also, she has been associated with this organization for the last 15 years.
Undoubtedly, Bobby is going to be an inspiration for all in her society. In a conference, she said, “I want my people (Kinnars) to come up in politics like before”. She shows her concern for the problems that people especially middle-class men face while getting their work done. Completing her statement she said, “If I become a counselor, I will work to end corruption. I will not allow officials to take bribes and will get public works done for free”.
However, it is not the first time that a transgender is going to be the center of attraction in politics before Bobby we all have heard about Shabnam “Mausi” Bano who became the first transgender Indian to be elected to public office (MLA). She was an elected member of the Madhya Pradesh State Legislative Assembly from 1998 to 2003. And at that time her name was in the headlines for a very long period. Perhaps Bobby has been inspired by her and keeping the legacy continues to inspire others.
