However, his complete name is Nizam Mir Barkat Ali Khan Siddiqi Mukarram Jah, Asaf Jah VIII but he is prominently known as Mukarram Jah. Born on 6 October 1933 in Hilafet Palace, Nice, France, the 8th Nizam of Hyderabad took his last breath on 15 January 2023 in İstanbul, Turkey at the age of 89. Well, after his death saying this won’t be bad and that perhaps this is the end of the legacy, however, Mukarram Jah’s children are also there but as nothing has been announced officially, therefore, it seems like from now perhaps there would not be any successor.

The 8th Nizam of Hyderabad has a net worth of nevertheless estimated at $US1 billion in the 1990s. However, before the decade his net worth was just unbelievable as he was from a royal family. According to the reports, Mukarram was the richest man in India till 1980, however, after that year he lost some of his assets for settling the divorce. Talking about his education then, Jah first began his education in India at the Doon School which is located in Dehradun, and later he moved to England for his further studies where he studied at Harrow and Peterhouse, Cambridge. He also studied at the London School of Economics and at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Talking about his personal life then the man married five times where, his first wife was a Turkish noblewoman, Esra Birgin and they got married in 1959. However, life was going well but then Jah left his Hyderabad palace for a sheep station in the Australian outback and got separated from his wife because she does not want to move with him.

Later In 1979, he married a former air hostess and employee of the BBC, named Helen Simmons, the lady converted to Islam and changed her name to Aysha. Unfortunately, she died. Later, he married Manolya Onur who was a former Miss Turkey in 1992 and divorced her after a five-year marriage in 1997. He married Jameela Boularous (b. 1972), from Morocco, in 1992. and then In 1994, he married a Turkish Princess Ayesha Orchedi.

Political Connection

Well, as he was one of the silver spoons and a king then how can it be possible for him to stay away from Politics according to the reports, Jah was a close friend of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and once in his statement he stated in 2010 that Nehru had wanted him to become his personal representative or the Indian ambassador to a Muslim country.

Mukarram Jah, the titular Nizam VIII of Hyderabad, passed away at his residence in Istanbul in Turkey on Saturday night. Although, the news came officially on Monday and since it broke on the internet it has been doing rounds. However, soon there would be a successor of him as well, but on the internet, people are talking that with his passing it seems like the Nizamate of Hyderabad has come to an end. According to the reports, Jah’s body will be brought to Hyderabad from Turkey on January 17 and he will be laid to rest at the ancestral graves of Asaf Jahis in the historic Mecca Masjid near Charminar.
