Here is the news that started trending on the internet recently when people got to know about valentines day. Well, as you all know that Uttar Pradesh has always been a city of crime and mishaps but since the state got Yogi Govt, many of the crimes have decreased. Although, it is not hidden that the UP govt keeps bringing new ideas to stop mishaps, and recently, news started surfacing on the web that the Gautam Budh Nagar police levied restrictions under Section 144 of CRPC in the district including Noida and Greater Noida regions. Undoubtedly, the govt took this initiative to keep an eye on several upcoming festivals including Valentine’s Day.

Although, the govt took this step to keep safety in the sight but on social media netizens are making fun of people of UP saying that they will not be able to enjoy the day with their loved ones. However, the restrictions were perhaps imposed mainly for Valentine’s day so that not much crime would be seen on the roads and other private areas such as clubs and lounges, and parks as well. In a public statement the Gautam Budh Nagar police announced “In view of the upcoming festivals / and deadly virus’s protocol, prohibitory orders in the district under Section-144 CrPC are applicable from 04.02.2023 to 28.02.2023 in view of security. Action will be taken under Section-188 IPC for violation”.

Netizens’ Reaction To Imposing 144 In UP

So, as you all know that month of February is considered the most loved month for people, not only because of valentine’s day and other love days but also because in this month a lot of Shiv Devotees celebrate Maha Shivratri. Undoubtedly, on both days a lot of people gather and sometimes a rumor or tiffs spark the stampede that ends up with bad news. Also, because the world has been to the pandemic recently and still some cases have been seen in the past few days therefore govt is not ready to be relaxed and invite other problems.

But people on the internet are now making fun of people who live in Uttar Pradesh jibing that they neither celebrate Valentine’s day nor the Maha Shivratri. Netizens have been sharing memes with their friends from UP and laughing at them. Although, it is a good step for the govt to control and manage the law and order in the state. The judgment has been taken keeping an eye on upcoming festivals and also the pandemic protocol. Prohibitory orders in the district under the Section are applicable from February 4 to February 28.

Restrictions Under Section 144 On Valentine’s Day and Mahashivratri

  • Five or more people cannot stand together in a group.
  • No procession can be taken out. No photography or drone can be flown in the vicinity of any government office or government residence in the district.
  • Can’t worship or offer prayers in public places. Action will be taken against those who do this.
  • One cannot roam around with a gun or knife in public places. Firing in public places or anywhere is not allowed.
  • People will not be allowed to offer prayers in public. The public is also prohibited from walking around public places with a gun or knife and displaying them.
  • Drinking alcohol or consuming drugs in public places is also a violation of the rules.
  • No louder sound and DJ can play in any religious place or club.

What Is CRPC Section 144?

CRPC Section 144 refers to Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of India, which grants the power to executive magistrates to issue orders in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger in order to prevent the same. This section empowers the magistrates to take immediate preventive action and to pass any order necessary to prevent such nuisance or danger. The orders under Section 144 are usually issued to maintain public order and safety.
