Supreme Court will deliver its judgement on petitions filed to review the previous decision of allowing women of all age group to enter in Kerela’s Sabrimala Temple.
The top Court will pronounce its judgement on 65 petitions-56 review petitions, four fresh writ petitions and five transfer petitions which were filed after riots that broke out after the judgement in Kerela.
A Constitution bench led by CJI Ranjan Gogoi had reserved its decision on February 6, after hearing to parties including those seeking reexamination of previous judgement.
The five-judge Constitutional bench comprises of Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwalikar, DY Chandrachud, Indu Malhotra and CJI Ranjan Gogoi.
The Supreme Court had uplifted the ban on women between the age of 10 to 50 from offering prayers to Lord Ayyappa in Sabriamala temple owing to centuries-old Hindu practice which was termed as illegal and unconstitutional by the apex court.
The Constitution Bench had taken all the pleas into consideration by hearing them in an open court and has reserved its decision after hearing parties including Nair Service Society, Thantry of the temple, Travancore Devasom Board and government of Kerela.
