Manoj Tiwari, The Delhi BJP President, addressed a crowd in the national capital, on Sunday, 13th October 2019. He addressed the problem of infiltration of the city with illegal immigrants and held them responsible for more than 80% of the crimes occurring in the capital.
He brought up the National Register for Citizens (NRC) and further highlighted its importance to identify such illegal immigrants and act against the rise of crime rates in Delhi. He also mentioned Arvind Kejriwal, who is strictly against the NRC and states that Tiwari would be the first to be evicted if the exercise is started in the city.
The BJP leader, however, says that he doesn’t want to interfere with the execution of law and order which is solely in the hands of the Delhi Police, but also feels that a method should be worked out to fight crime, especially since there are such a large number of illegal immigrants spread throughout the city.
The statement made by Tiwari comes after the PM Narendra Modi’s own niece, was robbed a few kilometres away from the residence of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and CM Kejriwal. Damayanti Ben Modi, PM’s niece, was stolen of 2 mobile phones and a purse having Rs 50,000 cash, important documents and other valuables at around 7 in the morning. The accused have since then been caught and arrested and the items have been recovered.
