The National Carrier of India- Air India has decided to pay their tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, on 2nd October 2019. The airline has painted the freedom fighter’s image on the tail of their aircraft flying- Airbus A320, scheduled to fly from Delhi to Mumbai and back.

The image is painted on the tail of the aircraft and spans a size of 11ft X 4.9ft. It was painted by the management staff at the Airline’s hangar at Indira Gandhi International Airport based at Delhi.

When is the flight to take off next?

The flight is set to take off on Wednesday from Delhi at around 12pm and land in Mumbai at around 3:30pm, after which it will fly between Mumbai and Delhi at set intervals.

The chairman of the company, after taking all the necessary approvals, has decided to go ahead and paint a few more planes with the same image in a similar way. Of these include- Boeing B747, B777, B787, Airbus A320 and ATR. They are scheduled to be painted in the next 15 days.

Besides the Air India company, the Indian Railways, have also paid their tribute by painting the picture on it’s Diesel locomotives.
