He offered China India’s assistance in dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak.
In the letter, Modi expressed his solidarity with the President and the Chinese over the outbreak of the virus.
Modi offered condolences over the deaths as the toll rose. He also offered assistance to the country in handling the outbreak.
China’s reaction and response to the letter:
China praised Narendra Modi’s letter to the President.
“We thank and appreciate India’s support for China’s fight against the NCP Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said.
“India’s acts of goodwill fully demonstrate its friendship with China,” Geng said during an online media briefing while replying to a question on Modi’s letter to Xi.
The coronavirus death toll has crossed 900. The number of confirmed cases has crossed 40000.
