At least three doctors have been diagnosed positive for Covid-19. Two of the people came in contact with the virus through patients. However, one of the doctor’s relatives recently came from the UK. One of these doctors died.

Mumbai doctors have not been spared of the Novel Coronavirus. Mumbai’s counts for the COVID-19 cases went up to 58. From Saifee Hospital, an octogenarian doctor passed away on Friday. A press release from the state health department said he was a suspected case of coronavirus with co-morbid conditions like diabetes and had a pacemaker implanted.

According to a statement from Saifee Hospital, he underwent a CT scan at Saifee Hospital and was diagnosed positive for Covid-19. The transfer of the surgeon was to a special isolation facility at PD Hinduja Hospital where he subsequently died. Behranwala’s close relatives had come down from England and were under quarantine.

In a statement from Saifee Hospital, he said,” All containment and surveillance measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of our staff patients and visitors. Saifee Hospital reiterates that the Hospital is fully operational.” Saifee Hospital is where Behranwala underwent a CT Scan. The statement was given by Dr Vernon Desa, Director (Medical governance and clinical compliance).

The second case is of an Andheri based doctor. The doctor is aged 53. He has been tested positive along with his wife and daughter. His wife is aged 43 and his daughter is 20. The family has no travel history. According to reports, the doctor came in contact with the virus through a patient. Assistant Commissioner Vishwas Mote said,” As of now, no patient from his contact has tested positive.”

Another doctor tested positive. This doctor practised at Vakola. This is after he comes in contact with a person with travel history to Italy. The person tested positive too. he doctor has been admitted at Raheja hospital. Samples of his close contact have also been taken.
