The WHO is urging countries to test more people to curb the corona pandemic. India, however, has not expanded testing so far.
There has been wide criticism that limited testing could mean Corona cases could remain undetected. However, Indian authorities have said that they will not expand coronavirus testing. India is the world’s second most populous country.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has directed countries to test people as extensively as possible. But, India has only tested people that have travelled from affected countries or come in contact with a confirmed case showing signs after two weeks of quarantine.
India has been conducting only 90 tests per day, though it has the capacity for as many as 8000. According to the Associated Case, around 11500 people have been tested so far for the virus.
