During Janta Curfew, PM asked to show gratitude towards doctors with clapping. However, Viral message has been spread that Clapping kills the Coronavirus. So, does Viral message on Clapping Kill Coronavirus is fake? Read in Details

Prime Minister Modi’s announcement to observe the Janta curfew between 7 am and 9 pm on Sunday, has got some people thinking that the virus lives only for 12 hours. Some have also suggested that clapping can kill the virus. This is after Modi asked people to clap for 5 minutes at 5 pm. However, both the claims are entirely false.

Amid a 14 hour pan India shutdown, Congress has called for a complete lockdown. The opposition believes that this move will check the rising Coronavirus cases in India.

Congress leader Sashi Tharoor said that he supports the Janta Curfew. However, he warned that the life of the virus is not 12 hours.

Sashi Tharoor took to Twitter and wrote, “Be aware that the life of coronavirus isn’t 12 hours and clapping does not kill the virus. It’s an act of solidarity but at best a prelude to a serious and complete lockdown.”

As Modi called for the curfew, he asked the nation to go out on balconies at 5 pm and clap or bang pots and pans or ring bells in support of doctors, nurses, paramedics, municipal staff and airport workers.

In another tweet, Tharoor cited the example of Italy. The tweet reads, “Italy reported 793 #COVID19 deaths yesterday, the most in one day. W/more than 53,000 recorded infections &nearly 5,000 dead (more deaths than China), Italy’s mistakes have underlined the importance of early, strict isolation measures. One #JanataCurfew isn’t enough.”

The statement from Tharoor came as Rajasthan ordered a lockdown of the state till the end of this month. Rajasthan is a state ruled by the Congress.

The Center has also suspended all passenger trains in the country and interstate bus services.

The Center said that it is considering a lockdown in 75 districts across the country. These districts are where coronavirus cases have been reported.
