On 18th February 2020, veteran actor Bengali actor and former Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal died in Mumbai. Pal died after suffering a cardiac arrest and was 61.
Tapas Pal had gone to Mumbai to visit his daughter. He complained of chest pain ate the airport while returning to Kolkata. According to News Agency Reports, he was rushed to a hospital in Juhu but died around 4 A.M.
Tapas Pal had a long history of heart ailments. He had also been hospitalized for treatment several times in the past two years.
Pal was a two-term former MP who moved away from both cinema and active politics after his arrest by the CBI in the Rose Valley Chit Fund scam.
Pal is survived by his daughter Sohini and wife Nandini. However, former Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal who was Bengali actor died in Mumbai.

Pal is known for his roles in films like ‘Saheb’ and ‘Amar Bandhan‘. He was on ventilator till 6th February 2020.
His wife Nandini said that he was taken off the ventilator after that but his condition worsened and he died of cardiac arrest around 3:30 A.M.
Veteran Bengali actor Ranjit Mallick described Pal’s death as ‘untimely’. Mallick said,” I am yet to come to terms with the news. Yes, he was not keeping well for some time.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted,” Saddened and shocked to hear about the demise of Tapas Paul. He was a superstar of Bengali cinema who was a member of the Trinamool family. Tapas served the people as a two-term MP and MLA. We will miss him dearly. My condolences to his wife Nandini, daughter Sohini and his many fans.”
Madhuri Dixit Nene tweeted,” The loss of Tapas Paul who was one of the very first actors, I have worked with is felt by many. May God bless and comfort his family during this difficult period.”
Tapas Pal was born in Chandannagar and completed his graduation from the Hooghly Mohsin College in BioScience.

Tapas Pal made his debut in the Bengali film industry with Tarun Majumdar’s Dadar Kirti in 1980. His co-stars in the film were Mahua Roychoudhury, Debashree Roy and Sandhya Roy. Tapas Pal co-starred with Debashree Roy in several films including Nishantey, Samapti, and Chhokher Aloy.
Four years after this, Tapas Pal made his debut in Bollywood in 1984 with Abodh. His co-star in this film was Madhuri Dixit Nene. The film directed by Hiren Nag also marked Madhuri Dixit’s debut in the Hindi Film Industry.
