Kareena Kapoor Khan- the scintillating diva is celebrating her birthday today. In her career spanning of 19 years she has given some remarkable performances. She is a trendsetter, fashionista and one of the most glamorous actress of the film fraternity.
Her role of Punjabi girl- next door in Jab We Met to her being a doctor in Udta Punjab, her potrayal of characters have been etched in people’s minds.
On her birthday let’s take at some of her incredible performances.
Jab We Met
She plays the role of a feisty, luquacious, impulsive yet extremely adorable Punjabi girl- Geet with utmost ease and comfort. The film was directed by Imtiaz Ali and had Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2007 and made Kareena win a Filmare award in the Best Actress category.
Kareena’s potrayal of a prostitute in Chameli was commendable. The film proved to be a turning point in her career. This film helped in showcasing her acting prowess. The film was helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar. She won a Filmfare for award for Best Actress for this film too.
Her portrayal of Dolly Mishra- a playful, innocent, young woman smitten by Omkara is commendable. The adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello was helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film also had Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn in the leads.
Kareena had received several nominations for her role of Pretti Sahani, a doctor and also an activist working against drug abuse. The film was embroiled in a lot of controversies, but went onto become a commercial success. It showcased the dark side of Punjab by showcasing smuggling of drugs carried out in the state. The film was helmed by Vikas Bahl and had Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead.
Kareena played the role of Avantika- a professor in a university in Delhi who comes across Ehsaan Khan- a temporary professor in the university and falls in love with him. Then after getting married to him she comes to know that he is a terrorist. As her life spirals out of control, she realizes that she is a pawn in this huge game. Her potrayal of Avantika was worth appreciating. In my opinion, Kurbaan was one of the most underrated films of the year.
