Tahira Kashyap, an Indian filmmaker, recently gave an interview with Mid-day magazine. She opened up about her struggles with depression and her marriage problems in the past. The filmmaker had been diagnosed with breast cancer after she underwent a double mastectomy under suspicion. However, she has now been treated and thanks to the illness for shaping her.

Tahir Kashyap, who has been married to actor Ayushman Khurana for the past decade, says that before her illness she never treated her mind, body and soul as one and didn’t care for herself enough. She says that she failed to put enough emphasis on her mental health, thinking it wasn’t important enough. She says that if she would have visited a doctor and treated the depression she would have been saved from the illness. She quotes,

“My husband was shooting; i would spend hours at night crying, and put up the front of a happy person in the morning so i didn’t look like a loser before my children, who were aged two and four back then”

She also states that Buddhist chanting has had a great influence on her life and health. She thanked her cancer for shaping her and making her a stronger person.

She also opened up about her marriage problems, which are now in the past. She and her husband, Ayushmaan Khurana have been together since college and now have two children. She says that once upon a time, they were going through quite a rough patch in their relationship. She states that she had to go back to Chandigarh when she was pregnant because of the issues.

Ayushmann has also opened up about these issues in the past, after Vichy Donor and said it was mainly because she wasn’t comfortable about him kissing on- screen as a part of the film. The problems lasted approximately 3 years.
