Sushmita Sen is a mother of 10-year old Alisah, whose essay on adoption had moved the actress into tears. She had adopted Alisah a decade after the adoption of Renee.

She shared the videos on Instagram of Alisah reading out the essay on adopting children. After reading out the entire essay her daughter told her that she had peened it by retrospecting her past and present.

She also had shared her favourite line from the essay in the post,” You gave life in such a way, that you saved one.” #alisahsen… She had me in tears…The magnitude of love, acceptance, security, purity and honesty..the divinity in her convictions…ufff! Just listening to her opens the heart. I love you guys.”

Sushmita Sen came up with the phrase “born from the heart” when she informed Renee that she was adopted.

She said on Rajeev Masand Show, Women We Love,” I told her, Biological is boring…everybody is born from somebody’s stomach. Why would I want that? You’re special because you are born from the heart.

In a recent interview she said that Adoption wasn’t an act of charity for her, but it was the wisest decision she made at 24. “The wisest decision that I made at 24 was to embrace motherhood..to become a mother. It brought stability in my life. People might be thinking that it was an act of charity but for me it was self preservation. “

Sushmita Sen is a former Miss Universe and also has featured in plethora of films like Biwi no 1, Main Hoon Na, Kyo ki…Mai Jhooth nai bolta, Dulha Mil Gaya, to name a few.
