Highlights

  • The movie Dracula has hit the theatres today.
  • It is another masterpiece that has been delivered by the makers of Sherlock Holmes.

Cast

Bitingly funny and utterly charming, Netflix and BBC’s trilogy revitalizes a literary icon who has a foot inside the grave for years.

Sherlock holmes writers wrote Dracula

Right from the announcement of the film, people knew that the film is going to blow people’s minds as it was written by the writers of Sherlock Holmes, a series that made Benedict Cumberbatch a household name and Martin Freeman a Hobbit.

Gattis and Moffat give a sneak peek into Sherlock’s detective in London, hinting at a crossover that might be tantalizing for its own good. Throwaway references aside, there are obvious similarities between the two shows, especially with regards to the spirit that they share.

Danish actor Claes Bang not only looks horrifying but also makes a wise decision of portraying such a character with sheer perfection. You can sense his glee when he’s allowed to sink his teeth into Logui’s most famous dialogues as Dracula.

Dracula

The context in which these words were uttered, however, couldn’t be different. Many of the spoilers were revealed in the trailer itself. The identity of a couple of nuns questioning Harker in its first episode, but the revelation in the second episode. Like Sherlock, all of its episodes are of 90 minutes.

It takes a moment for the time-jumping structure of episode one to justify itself. While the episode was of the genre of Agatha Christie. Which unfolds like a murder mystery aboard the ship Demeter, feels different from the plot.

Can’t reveal more about the third episode. But, visually it’s by far one of the most imaginative of the lot, with the director taking us back to old-Hollywood with some of his lighting choices and use of paintings in the background.
