Veteran Hindi and Marathi film-theater actor Viju Khote passed away due to multiple organ failure. The 77 year-old- actor died in his sleep at his residence. The actor has starred in over 300 films in his career span of 5 decades. His is most famous for his portrayal of a dacoit in Sholay. His dialogue from the cult classic “Sardar Maine Aapka Namak Khaya hai” has been etched in minds of the cine-goers.
Actor Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter to pay homage to the veteran actor. He wrote that though he was much elder to him, both of them used to bike together along with his sister Shobha Khote ji. He further stated that the actor was well informed about American films.

Actor Bomani Irani said that he was hilarious on stage, iconic on-screen and darling human being in real life.

Suniel Shetty and Madhuri Dixit took to twitter to condole the death of the veteran actor.


Viju Khote is the younger brother of veteran actress Shobha Khote. She is a notable actress who has starred in classics like Saudagar, Goolmal, Coolie, Kishan Kahaniya to name a few. His father Nandu Khote was also a stage and film actor who had starred in numerous silent films. His contribution to the Indian cinema will always be remembered. He was charismatic, hilarious and above all a brilliant actor. May his soul rest in peace.
